These classes are a natural progression through the Royal Academy of Dance examination Syllabus. The syllabi consist of three different sections. The Classical work is the foundation and the most important part of the syllabi. The Free Movement section incorporates movements in common with other dance styles such as Natural Movement, and Contemporary and often uses props to enhance the dancer's movement. Character dance is the theatrical presentation of national dance using original ethnic dance and music which has been freely adapted for the theatre. The three styles - Hungarian, Russian and Polish - were selected because of their historic importance in the development of the traditional full length classical Ballet.

The Higher Grades Syllabi can be taught in conjunction with the Major Syllabus or as an alternative to the Major Syllabus. The Higher Grades Syllabi consists of three sections: The Classical work is the foundation and the most important part of the syllabi. Music has been arranged and adapted for many traditional full length classical ballets. The Free Movement section concentrates the use of upper body and elevation with the use of large silk scarves. The Character section is based on the Polish style and the emphasis is on 'court style' dancing based on traditional productions of ballets such as Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty. No Pointe work is required for this Syllabus.

Intermediate Foundation, Intermediate, Advanced 1 & Advanced 2. (as stated in RAD Standards Prospectus)
