Tap levels 1, 2, & 3 are a lively and rhythmic class that makes the student not only a dancer but a musician by using the small metal plates on the bottom of their tap shoes to create different rhythms and tones. These Tap levels focus on tap fundamentals including basic tap steps, wings, cramp rolls and pick-ups. Students will be paired up with students of the same skill level and will progress according to their own prior training and ability.

These levels teach the dancer to create an infinite number of Rhythms using the heel and toe of their Tap shoes. These exciting levels improve technique, coordination, concentration and intricate movement while progressing in a gradual manner building on fundamental tap skills learnt in previous levels. At this level students start to work towards improved endurance, speed, and light and shade in the tap tone.

These higher levels of Tap focus on musical phrasing and the complexity of rhythms with emphasis on the visual part such as coordination of the entire body, arms and the upper body and the challenge of "making melodies" with the feet. At this level individual tap steps as well as tap combinations really start to increase in difficulty as students start to add turns, wings, double pick-ups and time steps. Most often, tap is danced to jazz based music such as Swing, Big Band, Bebop, Funk and Latin styles. |
